We own a Kenmore 70 Series Washer and recently it has been acting up. The water will come into the cycle, but then the water will never come out. At the moment, we are having to wash the clothes and then remove all the washer. Does this problem sound fixable? Should we call a repair man to come out and look at it.

At the moment, we are having to wash the clothes and then remove all the washer. Does this problem sound fixable? Should we call a repair man to come out and look at it, or just get rid of it. It seems very old, so maybe it's time to just get a new one? Is the belt still unbroken?
I spent 15 minutes yesterday giving an more detailed answer to your question but today i see it's not there. I went into instructions as to how to empty the water out of the machine so you could then take a look behind the machine to see if the belt is broken. It seems like a logical answer to me. You need someone to hold a bucket, you then take the drain hose out of the drain pipe, slowly lower the hose to the bucket and gravity will then let the water empty out of the machine.
It will take some time to do it but it must be done in order to move the machine out where you can then look behind the rear panel. So it's lower the hose into the bucket, then raise the hose back up when the bucket has enough water in it to be emptied out somewhere. Tell us some more. Upload in progress. Upload failed. Kenmore Dryer Troubleshooting 700 Series – Imarksweb.orgDownload: Kenmore Dryer Troubleshooting 700 Series found on Marks Web of Books and Manuals. Kenmore 70 Series – FixyaI have a Kenmore 70 series gas dryer that is not heating up.
I used it one night and the next day it would not heat. However if I continue to restart the timer the clothes eventually dry but not by heat. Kenmore 70 series dryer will not start in Appliances (now closed) Forum Kenmore 70 series dryer will not start. Kenmore 70 series dryer troubleshooting – Ask Me Help DeskMy dryer is shutting off by itself Sorry to get back so late. Airflow is so critical with dryers. If you have ever put your hand over the back of a hair dryer you. Why won’t my Kenmore 70 Series gas dryer heat up and dry the clothes?Make sure that you have an adequate gas supply provided to the dryer and that the gas cut-off valve behind the dryer is fully open. The first step in troubleshooting this heating problem is to take out the observation plug in the front of the dryer cabinet and observe the burner assembly with the dryer running in a heated cycle.
See if the igniter is glowing. If not, then I recommend shutting off the dryer and unplugging it to disconnect electrical power. Shut off the gas supply and pull off the back panel. Check the thermal fuse that is on the blower housing for continuity with a volt/ohm meter (with the dryer still unplugged). The location of the thermal fuse is shown in the first image below. NOTE: Your dryer will be slightly different than the one shown but the thermal fuse is in the same location. To check the thermal fuse (with the dryer unplugged), pull one wire off and measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse with a volt/ohm meter.
You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (closed) if the fuse is okay. If you measure infinite resistance (open), then the fuse is blown and will need to be replaced. To verify that this is the only failure that is preventing the igniter from glowing, you could tape the wires that connect to the thermal fuse together will electrical tape and then test the dryer to see if the igniter glows and the burner ignites. If it does, then replacing the thermal fuse should fix your dryer problem. NOTE: Do not continue to run the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed. It is an important safety component that must be replaced. If the thermal fuse was blown, I recommend checking the exhaust vent system for the dryer.
Make sure that the lint screen is cleaned before every load. Check the flexible vent hose behind the dryer for a kink or lint clog. Check the exhaust duct system to the outside of the home for clogs or restrictions. If your vent duct runs up through the roof of the house, you may need to have an outside service clean the duct. Make sure that the damper on the vent at the outside of the house is opening properly.
These tips will help prevent the thermal fuse from blowing again. If the thermal fuse is okay, then several other components could prevent the igniter from glowing. The wiring diagram for your dryer is shown in the second image below. An open operating thermostat, high limit thermostat or flame sensor could prevent the igniter from glowing. You could also have a failed timer contact, an open contact in the motor centrifugal switch or a wiring failure between components. You can check the operating thermostat and high limit thermostat in the same manner as you checked the thermal fuse. If the igniter is glowing, you could have a failed flame sensor or bad gas valve solenoid coils could prevent the dryer from heating.
The third image shows the theory of operation for the gas valve assembly. Understanding this theory is essential in properly diagnosing and repairing g as dryer heating failures. Using this information may help you understand the cause of your heating failure. If you need more help resolving this problem, resubmit your question with additional details.
A broken washer means disaster in most homes which is why we’ve created this repair guide to help you fix a washer timer that won’t advance. While a washing machine repair may seem discouraging, millions of our customers have told us it’s actually pretty easy! To get you started, we've made a list of the most common parts that cause a washer’s timer to not advance. You can use this list to help you figure out what part needs to be replaced and then you can enter your model number into the search to locate the part schematics and more. The lid switch is a safety feature found on most top loading washing machines. The lid switch is normally located beneath the main top with a projection on the lid or a pin attached to the lid that will actuate the switch when the lid is closed.
The lid switch supplies power to the timer and motor circuits. Verify that the switch is being activated mechanically and that any levers or actuators are not damaged or sticking. If the switch is being activated but there is no power being supplied to the timer circuit then the switch may be defective.
Disconnect power from the appliance and remove the wires from the switch. You can then check the switch for continuity with a multi-meter. We strongly recommend that you DO NOT bypass a lid switch as it is an important safety feature and serious injury could result. Timer & Timer Motor.
The timer is used to control all of the functions of the washer. The timer will have a series of electrical contacts that are operated by a cam assembly which is advanced by a timer motor. Some of the contacts in the timer are used to control the timer motor. If the timer on your washer will not advance, the timer or timer motor may be at fault. You can test the timer contacts for continuity with a multi-meter but you will require the electrical schematic to determine the correct terminals to check. You can also check the timer motor for continuity with the multi-meter as well.
Kenmore Washing Machine Series 70
On most brands of washing machines, the timer motor is not available separately. Remove power from the appliance before attempting this test. Water Level Control. The water level control on washing machines is used to turn the water valve on and off at the selected levels, as well as to supply power to the timer motor when the correct water level is reached. If your washer fills but the timer does not advance you may have a defective water level switch. When the water inlet valve shuts off you can then check the water level switch for continuity with a multi-meter.
Remove power from the appliance first and then remove the appropriate wires from the control before performing the test. Verify the proper contacts to check with the schematic diagram. Timer Knob & Dial & Skirt. The timer knob or dial is attached to the timer shaft and will turn as the timer advances through a cycle.
The timer knob may also be used to start the cycle by pulling out on the knob which activates a switch inside the timer. The timer knob is normally made of plastic, strengthened with a keyed metal insert where it attaches to the timer shaft. Normal use can cause the knob to crack or wear and no longer turn with the timer shaft. This will make it difficult to turn the timer to the desired cycle, and will also cause the dial to not turn with the timer shaft as the cycle advances. Before replacing the timer knob or dial you should first remove power to the appliance so that you do not inadvertently start the washer.
Most timer knobs will have a separate dial or skirt that is engaged by pushing in on the knob when you turn it. To remove the knob you may have to push in and turn counter clockwise to unthread the knob. Some models require that you remove a cap in the center of the knob to access a retaining clip to separate the knob and dial, while others require you to access the back of the timer body to disengage a retaining shaft that secures the knob in place. Always make sure that you remove any metal retaining clip that may be left on the timer shaft.
The drain pump removes water from the washing machine tub at the end of the wash and rinse portions of the cycle. If the drain pump fails then the washer will not sense that the tub is empty and may not advance into the next portion of the cycle. If your washer stalls at the end of the wash or rinse portions of the cycle, you should check to see if the drain pump is functioning properly. Some electronic controlled models may display a fault code if this condition occurs. If your machine is flashing a fault code, you can refer to our list of common appliance fault codes to determine the source.
Water Inlet Valve. The water inlet valve is used to supply both hot and cold water to the washer during the fill portions of the cycle. The valve will have at least two electric solenoids that open the valve when required.
If your washer does not advance through the cycle or stalls at a wash or rinse fill portion, then the water inlet valve may be at fault. You should first verify that the inlet hoses do not have any kinks or restrictions and that the inlet screens are clean. If these are ok, then you can check the continuity of the solenoids with a multi-meter.
Kenmore Washer 70 Series
You will need to remove power from the appliance before attempting this test. If either of the solenoids is open circuit then you will have to replace the valve. If the solenoids appear to be normal, then you can check for the proper voltage to the solenoids during the fill portions of the cycle. This is a live voltage test and should only be performed by a qualified person.
If no voltage is detected, then you will need to check the fill circuit components including the timer, water level switch, cycle selector switch and the lid switch. More Repair Parts.

Kenmore is an appliance brand owned by Sears Holdings Corporation, the same company that owns and operates Sears department stores. If your Kenmore 70 Series washer will not spin it may be due to one of a few common problems. In order to diagnose or solve the problem you can run through a few Kenmore authorised troubleshooting steps.
Allow roughly 10 minutes to complete this task. Skill level:Easy Instructions 1 Check the washer door is correctly closed. If the machine detects the door is slightly ajar it will not fill the or spin the drum. Make sure the firmly closed before trying to start a wash. 2 Make sure you are using the correct amount of detergent. If you use too much soap the drum may fill with suds and cause the cycle to cut off.
Follow the instructions on the bottle for the best results. 3 Check the position of the drainage hose. Make sure it is not located more than 96 inches (244 centimetres) above the ground to allow water to properly drain. If water cannot drain from the machine the cycle can be interrupted.
